Challenging Arts & Crafts

not just a bunch of yellow roses...

Ako´s Yellow Rose

The rose bush has been in the garden since middle 90´s,  the time
when we got  Ako, our rottie..

We ordered it from Germany,  but it´s  actually  a
David Austin rose named Ausmas..

The first time it bloomed, I was fascinated by the
beauty of the cup-shaped blossom,  with luscious petals
and its lovely fragrance that is a bit similar to that of a honeysuckle,
spreading its scent all over the garden.

Our bush develops clusters and clusters of buds
in each of the branches  and it´s even growing vigorously more
 each year.....

...so many buds, yes.. so many buds that would become beautiful,
gorgeous blossoms in a couple of days....

...spreading wonderful scent and mesmerizing every
human being.... well, even the bees and
other insects as well.

We´ve been blessed having this in our small garden paradise..
the reason behind why  we call it Ako´s Rose is that,
we planted it  almost the same time we got him
from that  farm in Lower Austria
way back in 1994.

A very robust variety, just  feed it with a common-used
fertilizer and prune in Fall...  the following
Spring, it will start to thrive wonderfully..

Some blossoms are cut for my vases and after
a few days when petals fall, I just gather
those and  put them in a container  to
dry for  my potpourris.

And sometimes... I put them in one single vase  or
put the  blossom in  each jug or jar
grouped  together to give a different
mood  in a room.

These flowers gave us so many happy moments
and whenever we see them, we see our
beloved rottie Ako, who  left us with
beautiful memories!

 Enjoy your day  whatever you´re
 doing, wherever you are...
Thanks for visiting!

Mercy

a dash of pink and yellow....

Floral arrangement used-up most of my
afternoon time these days.
It all started when Spring came in as the
flowers along the meadows and fields
started popping out, wanting
 to be picked.

Today´s flowers came from a pathway that Lily
enjoys to run up & down... and it´s this pathway
where  I picked the wildflowers I used in most
of my bouquets to date.

One of the advantages of living near the
corn and wheatfields is that,
we  get to roam around with Lily
 (mom in-law´s four year-old chihuahua)
in these vast areas and at the same time
find so many wonderful natural materials to
decorate our home.

The city of Vienna is very green, every sidewalk has
trees and/or  planted with flowering bushes.
In the outskirts of the city, the open fields are tilled
for crops and planted with big bushes
as windbreaker.

Lily´s pathways are full of various wildflowers...
 camomiles, cornflowers, poppies and
many more.

You wouldn´t believe it but there are so many floral
species that are really growing on these fields
and grounds, hand in hand with the wheat or corn.

The blossoms are just  there waiting to be picked....
... and so.. that is what I did and turned these wildflowers
into a bouquet .... like this one.

Thank you for taking the time
to read this blog!

Happy Sunday!

just a simple bunch of wildflowers...

How can I resist gathering those vividly
colored wildflowers?
Blossoms, blossoms, blossoms.......

....see them, these  tiny little flowers so gracefully
standing in their form....
waiting to be acknowleged and adored.

Each has its own beauty, casting spell to
each beholder
that appreciates its value...

.....influencing our thougths, inspire
and make  us smile for a while
despite the troubled and worried minds

What could your thoughts be in  a world
without flowers?

" To see the world in a grain of sand
and heaven in a wildflower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hand
and eternity in an hour." ,,, William Blake

Happy Wednesday everyone!

out of the blues....

The wheats have grown  more than 1 meter  high now.
Along the pathways, where the farmers  drive their tractors to till
the field, there are  various wildflowers that pop-up out
of the blues...

The seeds of these wildflowers either  came from different areas of
Marchfeld (part of Lower Austria)  that  we considered countryside  or   by means
of pollination through bees and  insects or can be that the farmer´s scattered
them  all over/along  the  field pathways.

Whatever is the reason for the wildflowers existence, it´s a pleasure to look
at them always , just being there.... standing still and spreading
their beauty!

It´s amazing that a  gathered bunch of these cornflowers could be  turned
into a gorgeous bouquet at no cost at all!

Cornflowers are actually tiny flowers....
as you can see in the photos here. When they are held altogether
they create a big impact  when placed  on a table
because of the deep blue color.

If you can gather some of these, you´ll surely make
a wonderful arrangement to get inspire with.

Gathered some and made them into a bouquet .......

I hope your weekend is wonderful...

Thank you for reading my blog.

Happy Weekend!

lilacs and wildflowers...

Flowers, flowers, flowers....they make me smile
and give me inspirations each day.

I could not imagine my home without flowers...
they bring joy  as well as give pleasure to the eyes
 of every beholder...

The violet Campanula above is my latest
addition  to the flowers in my garden.

I have a small space available in  my backyard...
....so I tried planting flowering ones that are my favorites
as well as sum up the fave colors for my own satisfaction.

The interactions of the various shades of light to
deep pinks  give a gorgeous contrast to the
evergreen conifer hedge..

I love Lilacs,  my neighbour gave me  a bunch
over the weekend when she made
a walk in the woods.....
...and they are all over our pathways, too!

Except for the dandelions, you won´t see
these tiny wildflowers on the pathways
 if you won´t look carefully
for they are really really small...

The wildflowers start popping-out now
as the days go on toward summer ...
and as I told you, they are seen in the middle
of the fields where the wheats are grown.

And so, I´ve had the idea of picking the wildflowers
each day when we walk Lily, mom in-law´s
four year-old chihuahua.

It was fun making bouquets according to
the colors ....
...I chose tiny vases so that when the flowers
are arranged , they would look like
normal size when they are photographed..

I also used berries in my arrangements above ...
I don´t think that these berries are edible.

These rapes are popping out in the middle
of the wheat field, so I went to gather them...

BUT(!), I should have waited  because
it rained in the morning and the field
was muddy!!!
The rest is for you to imagine as to what
  happened  with my shoes...LOL!

Centaurea cyanus or the blue cornflowers are
so gorgeous and  can easily be arranged
because they have long stems that can be cut easily according to the vase used.

Such gorgeous lilacs!!!
They are one of the first arrangements I did since
I started making bouquets last week.

Last but not least, is this cluster of various green flowers,
the ones in the middle that look like grains will
turn white in a few days...
I added the violet campanula so it would look livelier..

I hope you enjoyed the Lilacs and the
 wildflowers.
I wish you were inspired by the flower pics, too!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
 Have a nice Wednesday ahead!

Til next,

Mercy
