just a tote....

This rest fabric had been nesting in a box in the corner of the curtain shop I once visited out of curiosity. I bought this piece at a fraction of a cost and kept it in my fabric stash not really knowing what to do with it.

I liked the fabric and though it´s very small in size I simply

took it, it´s my hoarding instinct I guess that made me think someday, I´d make something out of it.

The feel of an upholstery fabric is quite stiff but I love its stand...actually my fave material for a tote bag. This one is very easy to sew and I added a batting so it would look voluminous. I love the simplicity of this bag with no trimmings except for the closure of simple band & buttons in front and in the back.

The handles were stuffed with polyfill..

The lining used also came from my stash that had been there a couple of decades ago ..

The feel in the inside is so smooth because of the padding or batting that was added in between.

This tote bag is an all-purpose one, so you can carry it for whatever needs you may have.

the green bag and the suede shoes

I saw these olive green yarn and I immediately fell in love with its color. It´s the yarn color of the Octoberfest ... everyone celebrating this feast is wearing alpine folkloric and mostly with red or green.

And so I thought I would make something out of them , I was lucky to have bought them... because they were on sale and half the original price!!! That triggered my excitement at 50% off!!!

And so, I grabbed a couple of packages including the white one.We love special offers don´t we?

Well, I just had a thought on what I´ll do with it.. and so I was playing with the hook to see what I´d come up with, which project can be taken and can be done while in the subway going to and from work.

......and my concept was to make a tote bag in granny squares, for my office lunch... something not to big and not to small..

I lined it with a flower printed cotton fabric that are normally used for "dirndl", a folkloric dress worn by women in the alpine region of Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

So, i think the lining fabric goes well with my theme... there is a contrast and the wooden handles are just fitting well to the color both in and outside of the bag.

The wooden handles came from Manila, I bought them in a shopping mall in Divisoria while I was visiting my family a couple of years back. The shop especializes in bag accessories and they are really just a fraction of a cost..

I think this bag is groovy enough to be worn with a pair of blue jeans and it is just a coincidence....

......that I happen to have a pair of green suede shoes.

A Carry-all Bag

Hello everyone!

I hope all of you are fine and coping with the heat wave. For me, it´s back to reality after 4 weeks of absence in the blogging world. The holiday took me to our 2^nd home in Andalucia, Southern Spain.

During my holiday, I thought of making a few projects to

keep me busy for the next 4 weeks...

For me, just be lazy or doing nothing is sometimes a "no go" for I easily get bored when my hands aren´t working.

Besides, crafting is more fun to do especially when

time slowly passes by.

The first project I´m going to show you is this crocheted
carry-all bag.

A tote bag is always a welcome accessory, a bag that is sturdy enough to carry all those food goodies or things from short errands made during lunch breaks.

Each skein has 40 grams and I used-up a total of 10 skeins... peach, light grey and dark grey.

The stitch is so simple, double crochet stitch all the rounds and handles were done in a single crochet stitch.

Then, I lined the bag with a light brown cotton fabric.
Both the yarn and the lining are washable at 30°C.
